Formerly the USS Edenton, the Coast Guard Cutter Alex Haley was transferred into Coast Guard service in 1999. As a former salvage and rescue ship, it was designed for power and durability, and its nickname “The Bulldog of the Bering” is a testament to its sturdy build, stability, and capability.
