Lieutenant Andrew W. Loeffler

 

USCGC JOSEPH GERCZAK Commanding Officer Photo - LT Andrew LoefflerA native of Newark, DE, LT Loeffler enlisted in the Coast Guard in the fall of 2008. After graduating from Recruit Company Hotel-180, he reported to USCGC Legare (WMEC 912) in Portsmouth, VA, where he worked as a Deck Seaman and eventually struck the rating of Boatswain's Mate. 

In 2010, he reported to CG STA Oxford, MD, where he earned his Boarding Officer and Coxswain certifications. In the winter of 2014, he graduated from Recruit Company Commander School in Cape May, NJ. He served as a lead and assistant Company Commander, training over 5,000 men and women destined to become the Coast Guard’s enlisted workforce. During this time, he also received his certification as a Master Training Specialist. In 2018, he was a graduate and class leader of Officer Candidate School 2-18, where he received the Commandant’s Leadership Award. 

His officer assignments include Deck Watch Officer and commissioning crew of the USCGC Midgett (WMSL 757), Executive Officer of the USCGC Oliver Berry (WPC 1124), and Commanding Officer of the Southeast Regional fisheries Training Center in Charleston, South Carolina. 

His personal awards include three Coast Guard Commendation medals, two Coast Guard Achievement medals, and various other personal and unit awards.

Executive Officer

Lieutenant Junior Grade Alexandra L. Murphy

 

CGC JOSEPH GERCZAK Executive Officer Photo - LTJG Alexandra L. MurphyLieutenant Junior Grade Alexandra Murphy reported to USCGC Joseph Gerczak (WPC 1126) as the Executive Officer in June 2025. 

For her first assignment, Lieutenant Junior Grade Murphy served as a Deck Watch Officer aboard USCGC Kimball, a 418-ft National Response Cutter homeported in Honolulu, Hawaii from June 2023 to June 2025 conducting living marine resources and national defense operations in the Bering Sea and Arctic, search and rescue in the Hawaiian Islands, and counter-drug operations in the Eastern Pacific.  While on the Kimball, she served as the Gunnery Officer, responsible for the maintenance, administration, and readiness of weapons systems and ammunition. She also served as the Law Enforcement Officer, responsible for the training and operations of the cutter’s boarding teams and Anti-Terrorism Force Protection response and personnel. In her second year, she served as the Assistant Executive Officer updating unit instructions, managing the cutter’s daily schedule, and ensuring crewmember readiness. 

Lieutenant Junior Grade Murphy graduated from the United States Coast Guard Academy in 2023 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
