DPI (District / Prevention / Inspections and Investigations)

The Northwest District’s Inspections and Investigations Branch (dpi) within the Prevention Division oversees all commercial vessel and waterfront facility inspections. Program areas include towing vessels, commercial fishing vessels, recreational boating safety, port safety and security, and marine investigations. The branch also administers casualty investigations and merchant mariner suspension and revocation cases throughout the district. The mission posture is aligned with Coast Guard core values, Commandant priorities, and the Northwest District Commander’s strategic intent.
