Commander Jessica McCollum

 

Commander Jessica McCollum assumed command of CGC HOLLYHOCK in April 2024. Her prior operational tours focused on Aids to Navigation operations and Fisheries Law Enforcement. She was first assigned as Deck Watch Officer onboard the “Bar Tender,” CGC FIR homeported in Astoria, Oregon from 2010-2012. She later served onboard CGC WALNUT in Honolulu, Hawaii as Operations Officer from 2012-2014, and then Executive Officer from 2018-2020.

CDR McCollum’s staff assignments include Domestic and International Fisheries Policy Analyst in the office of Maritime Law Enforcement at U.S. Coast Guard Headquarters in Washington D.C. from 2015-2018. Later she served as Current Operations and Domestic Fisheries Officer at the Fourteenth Coast Guard District from 2020-2024.

Originally from Vero Beach, Florida, CDR McCollum graduated from the United States Coast Guard Academy in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine and Environmental Science. She completed a Master of Marine Affairs degree from the University of Rhode Island in 2015.

CDR McCollum’s significant awards include the Coast Guard Achievement Medal and Coast Guard Commendation Medal, both with operational distinguishing device.

Lieutenant Tanesha Green-Baker

Lieutenant Tanesha Green-Baker hails from the Bronx, NY. LT Green-Baker joined the Coast Guard through the College Student Pre-Commissioning Initiative (CSPI) in 2013. She graduated from Spelman College in May 2015 with a Bachelor’s in Economics and attended Officer Candidate School (OCS) July 2015. Upon graduating from OCS, she was assigned as a Deck Watch Officer onboard CGC VALIANT in Mayport, FL where she served as the Weapons and Support Officer.

After completing her tour aboard the CGC VALIANT, she was assigned to the Intelligence Coordination Center (ICC). During her tenure at the ICC from 2018-2021, she served as a strategic analyst in the Global Issues Division where she focused on port security assessments of foreign ports. In the summer of 2021, LT Green-Baker returned to the afloat community as the Combat Systems Department Head aboard CGC KIMBALL where she was responsible for operational readiness, maintenance/repair of all small & large caliber weapon systems and C5I systems. 

LT Green-Baker has received several professional awards such as the 2020 Blacks in Government (BIG) Meritorious Service Award and the 2019 National Naval Officers Association’s (NNOA) Distinguished Service Award. She has also received several military awards to include two Commendation Medals, two Achievement Medals, the Commandant’s Letter of Commendation, Artic Service Award, and Humanitarian Award. LT Green-Baker currently resides in Kapolei, HI and enjoys hiking, swimming, bowling, and exercising.

Chief Petty Officer Jovic Preza

 

Chief Petty Officer Jovic Preza, originally from Ewa Beach, HI, is the Electrical/Electronics Division Chief onboard Coast Guard Cutter HOLLYHOCK, homeported in Honolulu, HI. Assuming this role in June 2024, he is responsible for the comprehensive management and maintenance of all electrical and electronic systems, ensuring the cutter's optimal operational readiness. His career has spanned a diverse range of assignments, including tours aboard CGC MUNRO in Kodiak, AK, CGC SHERMAN on the decommissioning crew in Honolulu, HI, CGC MIDGETT on the commissioning crew in Honolulu, HI, and CGC MYRTLE HAZARD in Santa Rita, GU.

A graduate of Electrician's Mate 'A' School, Chief Preza further honed his expertise through extensive advanced training in areas such as Fiber Optics, Gyrocompass, Programmable Logic Controllers, and Electronic Speed Controls, culminating in a comprehensive skill set applicable to a wide array of Coast Guard operations. He holds an Associate of Science Degree in Natural Science from Leeward Community College in Pearl City, HI.

Chief Preza is the recipient of numerous awards, including two Coast Guard Commendation Medals and two Coast Guard Achievement Medals, each with Operational Distinguishing Devices. He proudly wears the permanent Cutterman insignia, a testament to his dedication and service at sea.
