Newcomer Information

Overseas Screening

Members receiving PCS orders to KITTIWAKE are required to complete an Overseas Screening as specified in Part 1.H.2 of the Military Assignments and Authorized Absences Manual, COMDTINST M1000.8A.

This includes an overseas physical exam for the member and dependents, and a financial assessment using the forms provided in the manual. An Overseas Screening must be completed within 10 days of receiving PCS orders.

Housing

Government-owned housing is available for members with dependents. For information, contact the Base Honolulu Housing Office at (808) 842-2071.

All KITTIWAKE crewmembers living on the economy must reside within 30 miles of the ship to remain available for recall.

Reporting

Coordinate your arrival with your sponsor and make sure they have your travel itinerary. Reporting uniform is Tropical Blue Long.

Temporary Lodging Allowance (TLA)

Depending on your status, Temporary Lodging Allowance may be authorized.

Medical Care

Members and families assigned to KITTIWAKE are enrolled in TRICARE Prime, with primary care available at Makalapa Medical Facility on Pearl Harbor Naval Base.
