Prevention Department

Sector Southeast Alaska's Prevention Department enforces federal laws and policies to promote maritime safety, security and environmental protection between Dixon Entrance and Icy Bay. The Prevention Department Includes the Inspections Division (Vessels and Facilities), the Investigations Division, and the Waterways Management Division. In addition to Juneau-based staff, the Department also encompasses Marine Safety Detachments in Sitka and Ketchikan, as well as two subunits: Aids to Navigation Team Sitka, and Petersburg-based Coast Guard Cutter ELDERBERRY.
