Executive Officer: Lieutenant Commander Earl H. Potter

Lieutenant Commander Potter reported aboard as the Executive Officer of CGC ACTIVE in July of 2020. Prior to reporting aboard ACTIVE Lieutenant Commander Potter served as an instructor at the United States Coast Guard Academy in the Humanities Department, where he taught American Government and International Relations, among other courses.

Lieutenant Commander Potter previously served as Commanding Officer, aboard the CGC ROBERT YERED, WPC-1104 home ported at Base Miami Beach in Miami, FL and the USCGC MAUI, home ported in the Kingdom of Bahrain. His prior afloat tours include serving as the Executive Officer of the CGC KODIAK ISLAND, and as a Deck Watch Officer aboard the CGC ACTIVE (as a first tour Ensign). His additional staff tours include serving as the Aide to the Pacific Area Commander in Alameda, California.

Lieutenant Commander Potter received his Commission from Officer Candidate School in 2007. He holds an MA in International Affairs from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University, and a Masters of Public Administration from the Harvard Kennedy School. Lieutenant Commander Potter Graduated from Southern Oregon University with a Bachelor in Political Science in 2005.

Lieutenant Commander Potter is a native of Mystic Connecticut and Newburyport Massachusetts.
