Air Station San Francisco Command Master Chief

 

                                          

                                           AMTCM RONALD D. FREITAS

 

Master Chief Freitas was born and raised in Kailua-Kona, HI and enlisted in Coast Guard in July of 1996 at the age of 17. His first unit was the CGC MORGENTHAU, the first coast guard cutter deployed to the Arabian Gulf in support of Operation Vigilant Sentinel. From there he received orders to Aviation Structural Mechanic (AM) School and was the last class to earn this rating.  From A School, Master Chief served at Air Station Port Angeles earning his Flight Mechanic, Flight Mechanic Instructor, and Watch Captain qualifications.  He then transferred to Air Station Kodiak serving in the ALPAT division executing five AVDET deployments to the ever-challenging Bering Sea. In 2007, he transferred to Air Station Borinquen where he served as the Maintenance Chief and Quality Assurance Chief. Next, he transferred back to Air Station Port Angeles promoted to Senior Chief and served as the Leading Chief Petty Officer for three years. In 2016, he received orders to Air Station San Francisco and has the privilege of serving as the Command Master Chief.    

Master Chief is graduate of Chiefs Academy Class 173 and holds an Associate of Arts in General Studies from University of Phoenix. Master Chief has been married to his wife Cathy Freitas for over 20 years and they have three wonderful children- Tevanui, Tiareiti and Hinatea.
