Bio: MKC Whaley reported to ALEX HALEY in November 2019. He serves as the Auxiliary Division chief and is responsible for overseeing maintenance of the cutter’s auxiliary mahcinery, including boiler, refrigeration, hydraulic, and chill water systems. MKC Whaley’s previous shore assignments include NAVCEN East and TISCOM in Alexandria, VA, as well as a tour in TRACEN Yorktown as an instructor. His afloat assignments include tours aboard CGC NORTHLAND (WMEC 904) and several temporary assignments on CGC LEGARE (WMEC 912).
MKC Whaley is originally from Richlands, NC.
LT George T. Greendyk
Engineer Officer (EO)
Bio: LT Greendyk has been stationed aboard ALEX HALEY since July of 2018. As the Engineer Officer, he provides a single point of accountability for the readiness and maintenance of all equipment, hull integrity, and emergency response on board. His previous tours include serving afloat as a student engineer on board CGC MELLON (WHEC 717) based out of Seattle, WA and ashore as a port engineer for the Coast Guard's medium endurance cutters in the Seattle area.
From a home town of Radnor, PA, LT Greendyk attended and graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in 2012 earning a bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. He also attended and received master's degrees in Systems Engineering and Engineering Management from Old Dominion University in 2018.
LT Joshua E. Moan
Operations Officer (OPS)
Bio: Lieutenant Joshua Moan reported to USCGC ALEX HALEY (WMEC-39) in July 2020, where he currently serves as the Operations Officer. He provides oversight and is responsible for the planning and execution of all operations across several mission areas: Law Enforcement, Living Marine Resources, Search and Rescue, and Maritime Homeland Security. LT Moan previously served as the Ports, Waterways, and Coastal Security (PWCS) Officer at the Thirteenth Coast Guard District in Seattle, Washington, and as a Deck Watch Officer on USCGC MELLON (WHEC-717) in Seattle, WA.
Originally from Port Angeles, Washington, LT Moan is a 2015 graduate of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Marine and Environmental Science.
LTJG Sharayah N. Simco
1st Lieutenant (1LT)
Bio: LTJG Simco reported aboard ALEX HALEY in July 2019 for her first tour after graduating with a commission from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy (USCGA) in May 2019. As 1st Lieutenant, she is responsible for directing all deck evolutions and ensuring the safety of the crewmembers of Deck Department, many of whom are serving at their first CG unit. She has spent time aboard CGC EAGLE (WIX 327), CGC MORENTHAU (WHEC 722), and CGC IBIS, and attended an internship at Coast Guard Cyber Command in 2018.
Hailing from Portsmouth, Ohio, LTJG Simco earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Government with focus in National Security Studies from USCGA.
CWO2 Joshua Calderon
Support Officer (SUPPO)
Bio: Chief Warrant Officer (CWO) Joshua Calderon reported to ALEX HALEY on July 5, 2019. As the Supply Officer, he manages the cutters budget, acquisition, and movement of personnel to ensuring the cutter is fully equipped and ready for mission execution. He also coordinates port visits and the delivery of fuel, subsistence items, and critical parts in the Coast Guard's most remote and logistically challenging area of responsibility.
CWO Calderon was born in Boston, Mass. He enlisted into the Coast Guard in January of 2004. CWO Calderon's previous assignments include:
-Section Chief & Accountable Property Officer at Training Center Cape May; -Funds Manager at the Shore Infrastructure Logistics Center (SILC) in Norfolk, VA; -Lead Petty Officer & Contracting Officer on board USCGC FORWARD in Norfolk, VA; -Reconciler for DOD Medical Billing & Invoice processing at Coast Guard Headquarters in Washington D.C.; -Acquisition & Distribution Project Assistant at Engineering Logistics Center in Baltimore, MD -Fireman, and Engineer Security Watch Stander on the decommissioned USCGC BOUTWELL in Alameda, CA.
CWO Calderon holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration & Associate of Arts from Strayer University.
